We use XBOX and PS3 controllers for a lot of the ground robots used today. It's easier to carry those and a laptop than a suitcase full of BS, plus today's generation can catch on pretty quick with those. Check out iRobot PackBot, what we had as Marine combat engineers.

Soldiers use console controllers to manoeuvre spy planes and helicopters to get an insight into what's ahead or the enemy's movements. It's not actually that good of a picture, common sense for any military personnel.

If you havn't noticed an xbox controller is connected via usb so the military and plug the controller into a computer via usb and controll an un maned vehicle as for the yellow caps they are blank adapters for training to show that they are not real rounds and the blanks wont fire right without them.
